type set transcription of original anglo saxon:

ongietan sceal gleaw h[ae]le
hu g[ae]stlic bi[eth]
[th]onne ealre [th]isse worulde wela
weste stonde[eth]
swa nu missenlice
geond [th]isne middangeard
winde biwaune
weallas stonda[th]
hrime bihrorene

my first draft word for word raw translation
after consulting truesdell translation (from yesterday)
hewing as closely as possible to alliterative and rhythmic schemes of the original
guessing at modern english etymologies when possible
and even when not possible
even to the point of incoherence
and syntactic/grammatical mangling
and improvisation:

>>>ongietan sceal gleaw h[ae]le
>>>understand shall wise man

>>>hu g[ae]stlic bi[eth]
>>>how ghastly be

>>>[th]onne ealre [th]isse worulde wela
>>>then all this world weal

>>>weste stonde[eth]
>>>waste standeth

>>>swa nu missenlice
>>>so now miscellaneously

>>>geond [th]isne middangeard
>>>yond this middleearth

>>>winde biwaune
>>>wind blown

>>>weallas stonda[th]
>>>walls standeth

>>>hrime bihrorene
>>>rime bitten

my second draft
refined for clarity
attempting to retain word order/rhythm/alliteration
as much as possible
wherever it makes sense to do so
and after having acheived better understanding of
the root of the word  "bihrorene" :

>>>understand shall the wise man
>>>how it shall ghastly be
>>>when all this world's wealth
>>>in waste standeth

>>>as now variously
>>>throughout this earthly realm
>>>windblown walls
>>>standeth rime-befallen
